How many vacations have you had in your life? If you’re at least 30, you probably had a lot. Aren’t you bored already with all that swimming, visiting museums, climbing ancient ruins or taking pics of buildings in cities just like yours, but different by their architectural style?
Well, you could try a cooking vacation for a change. This is how to do it:
Step 1: rent a studio in a country of your choice (make sure it has a kitchenette if not a real kitchen, a fridge, a cooking machine and all necessary cooking utensils)
Step 2: read about the cooking culture of the country you’re going to spend your vacation in (you want to know what foods you’ll have to deal with; don’t dream of cooking pork chop recipes in a Muslim country, because you won’t stand a choice – they don’t touch pork)
Step 3: make a rough daily meals plan. You’ll need it, because you need to evaluate how much money you can spend each day and what kind of food you can buy with it. After all, you don’t want to spend the last days of your vacation eating cheap street food only because you cooked lobsters the first two days.
Make sure not to spend too much in the kitchen during your vacation, because you’ll have to exercise a lot if you don’t want to return home with 10 extra pounds which you’ll then have troubles in getting rid of.
Now tell me, isn’t this a cultural vacation? Learn about the food culture of the places you’re visiting. Leave those museums, that’s only history anyway. Get real and learn to cook like the Greeks, the Turks, The Dutch etc. I promise you that after 10 such vacations you’ll be able to call yourself an international cook.

Packing for vacation depends a lot on where you’re going and on how much you are going to stay there. One week beach or fishing vacations don’t require as much gear as longer cultural vacations. On the beach or at fishing, all you need is to just have something to wear, but when going to big cities, in museums or attending concerts or theater plays, you need to carry with you proper outfits for those occasions. You’ll want to take with you your best Coach bags, or at least one of them, your Born Miriam boots and many other items such as jewelry and clothing accessories. All these can add a lot to your luggage, so there’s a question that raises in this case: would it be better to have one huge luggage containing everything, or two smaller suitcases would help you get organized a bit better, allowing you to group your items depending on some personal criteria?
This is a personal choice, but keep in mind that if you travel by car and have to stop over night on the road, you might better have a small case prepared with all required things for spending that night, with spare socks, with spare clothing and with personal hygiene items. This can be a tote bag, you don’t have to put all these into those big duffel bags. This way, it would be easier for you to unpack only the needed things, while the others will be left alone in the bigger luggage bag.
What do you think? How’s best for you?

When you have a limited budget, cheap vacations are cool. At least this is what you think in the beginning, when you book your vacation and can’t wait to go there and have a great time with very little money. What you don’t know is that if you go cheap you may not have such a good time, because of various inconveniences, from dirty rooms to awful service, up to not finding a room in the hotel you paid for.
This is a fact that could give you some food for thoughts. If you can’t afford a normal, average vacation, not a luxury one, why then would you go at all? Why not just stay home and enjoy some leisure time together with your beloved ones? You can play web sudoku all day long, you can solve puzzles, you can read those books you’ve been keen on buying over the past ten years but never found time to read… You see how many things you can do without having to leave home?
Although this is the cheapest vacation, it’s going to be great, if you know how to mix activities so you don’t get bored. You kno9w, too much Sudoku puzzle solving can give you headaches.

Golf vacations can be awesome, but only if you know how to play the game. If you’re a terrible beginner, paying so much money for spending one week in a golf resort will only bring you sorrow and pain. This is why you shouldn’t ignore practicing, and only when you can master a bit better your swings go buy a golf club membership or a gof vacation. If you didn’t know it by now, please find out and you can practice even inside your home or in your backyard, by using one of those training aids such as golf hitting nets. Such kits are available in all sports and outsoor shops and I think you can also order them online in so many places, that all you have to do is performing a Google search, then see what it returns. You’re probably only a few clicks away from your golf training aid, so you see how easy this is. In my view, training is the first step for an excellent golf vacation, so don’t waste your time and go get some practice. You never know when you’ll have the chance to play a great game and you’ll be sorry for not being a better player.

Fishing vacations |

It’s been so long since people were fishing to eat and to feed their families. Today there are still populations who depend on fishing to survive, but for us, the concrete, glass and metal children, fishing is just another relaxing hobby we never have enough time to enjoy as much as we’d like.
Fishing weekends are surely fun, but if you are passionate of this sport, you should consider fly fishing vacations at least once in a lifetime. If you are living in the US, you have plenty of places where you could go in great fishing trips, guided by experienced fishermen who know the best places and the best moments for having a great time and for catching a lot of fish. These guides, who are usually the charter boat captains, will teach you fishing techniques that are unique and effective. As of places to stay, you can find good accommodation deals such as Florida short term rentals which prove to be better than hotels for so many times.
Several such good fishing places are the Salmon Forks Outfitters, Ole’s Hakai Pass salmon fishing lodge or the Rockcliffe farm retreat which offers good access and extremely clear waters.

Loire Valley is one of the most spectacular places in France and maybe in Europe. There are lots of old castles which can be visited, but the distance between them is quite big sometimes, therefore you can’t just book a hotel in Paris and do one day trips, because you’d waste too much time commuting.
Loire Valley tours are the best option for making the most out of your visit in France. Buy such a tour from any tourism agency in Paris and you’ll have no other worry than take great photos during your trip. Usually, tour operators have deals with the inhabitants of Loire Valley villages, so you’ll have the chance to sleep in their guest homes and to eat food prepared by them in house. It is a great experience, to eat natural, organic food, from plants and animals raised without chemicals and all the stuff which may not be very health-friendly.
If you go to France and you want to visit more than just Paris, make sure to have at least two weeks available, otherwise you won’t have the chance to see too much and you’ll be in a hurry all the time. The ideal would be to stay in France for one month, but who can afford to skip work for that long? Last but not least, if you go for one month, you need to be very detailed with your vacation packing, because I suppose you won’t have shops all over the place in the countryside.

Since early childhood, I’ve been a huge fan on vacations. I remember that each time we were supposed to go on vacation, I could not sleep the night before, as I was anticipating the nice things that were going to happen, so sleep was not at all in my mind. It didn’t actually matter where we were going to spend the vacation, because our parents took care of everything. We were only concerned with simple facts such as how much money would they give us for slots machines or whether or not they are going to let us eat ice cream.
Growing older, I started to differentiate between vacations. For example, the expectations from a golf vacation are totally different from the ones I have from a Smoky Mountain Family Vacation or a cultural vacation. I started this blog as a place to write about my best vacations ever, about places I’ve been, hotels I’ve stayed in or restaurants I loved or hated during my travels. I’m going to review various kinds of vacation resorts, from the Ultra All Inclusive, 5 star ones, to the beach bungalows that don’t even have a toilet inside. Remember that places and trips are as cool as we make them. I could be happy in an igloo and miserable in a golden apartment. Having a great vacation is not always about the facilities. You’ll see.
I’m going to give you vacation ideas and tips, so you can have a great time wherever you may go, even if it’s only for a girlfriend getaway, and get the most out of your money and time, by visiting all touristic objectives such as monuments, museums, cathedrals, beaches and restaurants that are within your area of destination.
I take guest articles, so if you wish to send me your amazing vacation story, please let me a brief note in the comments here and I’ll send you all details.
